Content Setup

Below is a list of items we discussed.  Just click on any and it will take you through to Amazon.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Bill’s Setup

1) Amazon Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV

You can access any of your streaming content (Netflix, HBO, Showtime, etc).  You can connect via wireless or Ethernet, though I would recommend the latter.  I’ve listed the converter to setup Ethernet below.

2) Amazon Prime
Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial

If you buy fair amount of stuff from Amazon, I would sign up for Amazon Prime if you don’t have it already.  You get free 2 day delivery for most of their products.  This also gives you free access  to Amazon Prime Video, which has a ton of content similar to Netflix.  Amazon has some unique shows like Man in the High Castle and Transparent that are pretty strong.

3) Ethernet Connector

TP-Link AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 500Mbps

This device turns an electrical outlet into an Ethernet port.  Plug one unit into your internet router and the other end into your Amazon Fire TV (or Apple TV, laptop or any other internet device) and you get high speed internet without the hassle of wireless signals.  I have two sets of these setup in my house.

Other Items / Accessories

If you want to compare/contrast, below are links to some of the other items.  If you need a really simple remote for that TV just type in “universal remote” on Amazon. There are a dozen remotes under $10 that will pop up that should do the trick.  However, none of those remotes will control the Amazon Fire Stick.  Unfortunately, you have to use the remote that comes with the Amazon TV.

Roku 4

If your not going to purchase an Amazon Fire TV, I would recommend the Roku.  You’ll have access to all of the same Apps (except Amazon Prime Video) and I think Roku technology is a tad more advanced then Amazon.

Amazon Fire Stick

This has most of same features as the Amazon Fire TV, but much smaller/easier to move around.  It depends on good wireless signal and doesn’t stream as fast as the Fire TV, but we use two in our house and don’t have many issues.

Roku Streaming Stick

This is same thing as the Amazon Stick just by Roku.

This should be all you need but email me if you have any questions.
